General Dentist

Dr Cortes was born in Cuba. He started showing interest in Dentistry at a very early age. Determined to pursue his dream, he began dental school at Superior Institute of Medical Sciences in Santiago de Cuba, where he graduated as a General Dentist in 1989. After several years of polishing up his skills and accumulating vast experience working with patients in the dental field; he decided to emigrate to United States looking for more educational opportunities. He was accepted at New York University College of Dentistry where he received the degree of Doctor of Dental Surgery. Immediately after he completed an extensive and rigorous post graduate program at NYU in Prosthetic and Implant Dentistry.  Founder of Smartdental LLC, Dr Cortes treats patients of all ages and levels of dental needs, from simple fillings to comprehensive dental care including tooth replacement and dental implants. He  has been trained and certified in Invisalign, implant placement and restoration and orthodontic treatment. Through continuing education he is up to date with the advanced technology and procedures being used in dentistry today. Dr. Cortes shares his life with his great spouse and two boys, who are his inspiration to work for a better future.

Hygienists

Jacque has an impressive 30 years of experience in the dental field. Having been graduated from the Superior Institute of Medical Science in Cuba; she dedicated most of her years there as a dentist working with children with disabilities. Determined to seek for a new life and opportunities, she emigrated to United States with one goal in mind: to overcome any obstacles in order to fulfill her dreams. Knowing the importance of prevention to maintain optimal oral health, she decided to pursue a career as a Hygienist; obtaining her RDH degree in 2009 from the Fones School of Dental Hygiene at the University of Bridgeport. Jacque has dedicated her hard work and polished skills to our patients here at Smartdental since its foundation. She attends dental seminars and conferences every year to keep up to date with the latest research and with her strong feeling of giving back to the community; she participates yearly in the Connecticut Mission of Mercy. In her free time, she loves to volunteer at her church and spend time with her husband and two kids.

Office Manager

Leidys has been with us since 2011. With more than 10 years of experience in the medical field, she is fully committed to ensuring that our patients receive the best care that our practice can offer. She started as a dental assistant and through the years, she has become one of our strongest assets, willing to lend a hand when needed, assisting our patients with their appointments, informing and sometimes explaining the details of their treatment to help them overcome their fears and be at ease in a like-home environment. She also handles the Insurances' claims and manages the whole clinic. Combining her loyalty to our team and professionalism; she have made a commitment to make our patients happy and see our practice grow. She loves a good book and the time with her family.

CEREC Porcelain Crowns Artist

Eddy joined our team in 2018 after he completed his formation in Digital Art and Design at Full Sail University in Florida. His desire was to help support the growth and future of his family business and contribute to its continued success; so he decided to put his fresh knowledge and skills at our patients disposal. Working alongside the doctor in our restorative cases, he is responsible for the design and execution of our Cerec Dental crowns, directly contributing to the delivery of the beautiful smile that many of our patients proudly display. He's well verse in the latest technology and with continuing education, he stays up to date with everything that involves the CEREC machine. When he's not busy making our beautiful crowns, Eddy will help around the office, setting up appointments for the patients, lending a hand to the dental assistants, at the front desk or in the lab. He's a very valuable employee and a great team player.

Dental Assistant

Ana was a patient of our office since it was founded in 2010 and has been part of the Smartdental Team since 2015. She is very professional, friendly and compassionate with our patients. With her kindness and patience, she's able to create a very comfortable environment that makes our patients feel safe and have a pleasant experience. She's a great multitasker, an exceptional team player and very knowledgeable of her job. Her attention to details guarantees that all the safety measures are followed and our patient's information is accurate and updated. Ana's dedication to our office is one of the reasons why most of our work days run smoothly. She is a proud wife and mother of two and she loves to have fun with her beautiful family.
